This publication results from a project known as Integrated Innovation. Diverse contributions can be found from Norwegian and British researchers within a common anthology.

One of the main aims of the project is to contribute to international debates on innovation, with specific perspectives on enterprise and business development, networking, regional development and wider global processes. Nordic work life experiences are compared with the British context. Emerging theoretical perspectives, based on considerable empirical material, reflection and analysis are brought into play.

Integrated Innovation was financed by the Norwegian Research Council (www.forskningsradet.no) between 2005 and 2008. A strategically significant research project, it aims to create connectedness between interdisciplinary researchers, communities of interests, regions and countries. The project is strategic in the sense that it combines already existing empirical material, knowledge and experience within new analytical, comparative and theoretical contributions to debates within the Norwegian, Nordic and international research communities.

This publication is based on experience gathered by collaborating actors representing a multitude of contexts. Two Norwegian research programmes, several Norwegian research communities and outcomes from a wide body of UK research represent the core material within which key themes are compared and analysed. Additionally vast quantities of experience and knowledge from national, Nordic and other international partners have been utilised for analytical and comparative purposes. The whole collaborative structure has created a unique opportunity to develop and facilitate shared knowledge and learning.

Key contributors include:
• actors based in enterprises and business networks;
• public actors representing municipalities, counties and national governmental agencies;
• employee and employer representatives at enterprise, regional and national levels;
• researchers with diverse professional experiences and academic backgrounds.
