How is Resilience Achieved?

Preparedness for change through partnership
People and organisations can cope well with even the most unexpected and far-reaching changes when they take place within an environment of openness, trust and inclusion. Partnership between management, trade unions and employees is a key dimension of this, enabling strategic decisions to be explored and tested thoroughly in order to provide a sound basis for change.

Change, planned or unplanned, certainly works best when employees at all levels of the organisation have the ability to contribute their tacit knowledge, are made to feel as though they have a stake in the process and trust that they will be treated fairly. Achieving such levels of engagement and trust isn’t an overnight task – it builds on accumulated practice and experience. Communication, knowledge sharing and involvement are key elements of such practice, and these may require specialised tools and methods.
