Unleashing management creativity in a client-centred business

We delivered a programme to support management development in a Midlands-based engineering consultancy based on three principal objectives:

  1. To provide the leadership team with further insight into the perceptions and experiences of staff at all levels, and to measure the alignment of staff perceptions and experiences with the company’s vision, values and strategic objectives. Workplace Innovation’s “Group Recall” approach was particularly effective in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of workplace culture and practice based on the experiences of frontline staff and middle managers. Our approach to facilitating small peer group discussions generated fresh insight and identified actionable opportunities for improvement.
  2. To deliver a highly engaging Leadership Conference. Leaders in every organisation need opportunities to step back from day-to-day concerns and think creatively about the future. Through the use of forum theatre and other interactive approaches we delivered a conference that stimulated learning, creative thinking and team development in ways that were enjoyable and entertaining. We also provided knowledge and expertise on leading edge practices relating to leadership, staff engagement and high involvement innovation and improvement.
  3. To provide practical and visible follow up. The Leadership Conference generated actionable outcomes including clear follow up mechanisms which actively engage staff at all levels in improvement and innovation initiatives.

Scottish Enterprise (https://www.scottish-enterprise.com/) has announced the continuation of its nation-wide programme of workplace innovation Masterclasses confirming Scotland’s status as one of the most pro-active European countries promoting long-term sustainable economic growth through the development of inclusive and creative workplaces. Our experience of promoting fairer, more productive work dates back as far as the early 1990s.
